Fieldstone may have many colors in each pallet so it’s often best to come to the stoneyard and look at it in person. The types of fieldstone are generally categorized by shape and/or size. 3”-5” is a great size for a building stone and doing dry stacked work, while 2” and under is often used as a “stick on”. Ashlar is a stone that is snapped into a generally square or rectangular shape and is used for columns and fireplaces to achieve crisp corners. Thin stack is usually 2” and under in thickness and is often about 4-6” in width (great for stacking flowerbeds or mixed with building stone on a masonry wall). Pickup or delivery available.
